PartiallyClips is a minimalist comic strip made from royalty-free commercial clip art. It uses the same image in three panels, usually with no change to the original clip.
The strip was originally created by writer Rob Balder in late 2001, using a format he created for Scene  magazine in 1998 as “Cel Block.” In 2002, Rob offered the strip to alternative weekly newspapers, and ten of them began running it as a feature. Eventually, more than two dozen newspapers and magazines printed strips from PartiallyClips. It was also featured in the book Attitude 3: the New Subversive Online Cartoonists. The print periodical world being what it is, many of these publications either folded or dropped paid features, and only a handful of newspapers still run the strip at this time. A list of publications which ran PartiallyClips is below.
In late 2006, Rob co-created another webcomic called Erfworld. This project grew to take up most of his time, and the strain of doing two webcomics became too much. He decided to put PartiallyClips on indefinite hiatus at the end of 2009.
Enter Tim Crist, aka -=ShoEboX=- of Worm Quartet. ShoEboX is a comedy musician of great repute! He is also, like Rob, a founding member of the Funny Music Project. At the start of 2010, ShoEboX stepped in to carry the PartiallyClips baton forward.
Alas, but the clip art life is a cruel one. Without really intending to, ShoEboX reached the end of his royalty-free rope sometime in the middle of 2015, and ceased updates. These archives are now preserved here at Erfworld.com for posterity. Will the strip ever be revived in any form? Eh. Don't hold your breath but who knows? It's not like they stopped making clip art.
